That sounds like an exciting vacation! Here is an itinerary for a 6- or 8-night trip to visit Berlin and Munich and experience the history and culture of these two important German cities:

• Day 1: Arrival in Berlin

Upon arrival in Berlin, check into your hotel and spend the rest of the day exploring the city at your leisure. You might want to take a stroll along Unter den Linden, visit the Brandenburg Gate or the Berlin Wall, or enjoy a meal in one of the many restaurants in the city.

• Day 2-3: Berlin

Spend the next two days exploring the many cultural and historical sites in Berlin. Visit Museum Island to see some of the world’s most important collections of art and artifacts, tour the Reichstag Building and its dome, and check out Checkpoint Charlie and the Berlin Wall Memorial.

• Day 4: Travel to Munich

Take a train or flight to Munich and check into your hotel. Spend the rest of the day exploring the city at your leisure. You might want to visit Marienplatz, Hofbräuhaus, or the Englischer Garten

• Day 5-6: Munich

Spend the next two days exploring Munich’s rich history and culture. Visit Nymphenburg Palace, the Deutsches Museum, and Viktualienmarkt. You might also want to take a day trip to Neuschwanstein Castle, one of the most beautiful castles in the world.

• Day 7-8: Optional extension

If you have an 8-night trip, you can spend an additional day in Berlin or Munich or take a day trip to another nearby city such as Dresden, Nuremberg, or Salzburg.

•   Day 9: Departure

          Depart Munich and head home or continue your travels elsewhere in Europe.
